Diploma in operation theatre technology is a diploma course in allied health sciences. The course prepares the aspirants to work in operation theatres as a competent reliable technologist among the other team members of the healthcare department in the hospitals under the supervision of senior doctors. The course imparts the knowledge of the utilization of numerous diagnostic equipment like ventilators, monitors, defibrillators, C-Arm and many other patient assessment abilities. 

The course also concentrates on the knowledge and skills of monitoring infection control policy and procedures in the operation theatre. The course also trains the students to handle advanced lab equipment and perform accurate laboratory tests. The aim of the course is to teach and train candidates in operation theatre technology and the management of operation theatre along with handling a wide range of operating instruments including electronic and advanced equipment used in modern operation theatres.

Eligibility

• The candidate should have passed 10+2 level (Karnataka PUC, ISC, CBSE, state boards) in Science stream with 40% (GM) aggregate marks and 35% (OBC/SC/ST) or equivalent from a board recognised by RGUHS with subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and English. 

• The candidate should have passed 10th with 40%(GM) and 35%(OBC/SC/ST) aggregate from recognised board

Duration

The duration of the course is 3 years for the students joining after their SSLC or 10th. While the duration of the course is 2 Years for the students joining after PUC or 10+2.
