Diploma in Medical Lab Technology is a 3-years diploma course that is divided into 6-semesters. The course involves advanced professional learning of lab related technologies and techniques. The course is concerned with the diagnosis through clinical laboratory tests. Lab technologists are needed by doctors to help analyse results for treating diseases that they specialise in. The course covers preclinical subjects such as biochemistry, pathology, microbiology, blood banking.

The course imparts the in-depth knowledge of training in laboratory management like practical sessions, handling laboratory equipment, conducting clinical tests, matching blood samples, transfusions, urine diagnosis, blood diagnosis, safe disposal of wastes and many other laboratory techniques and technologies.

Eligibility

• The candidate should have passed 10+2 level (Karnataka PUC, ISC, CBSE, state boards) in Science stream with 40% (GM) aggregate marks and 35% (OBC/SC/ST) or equivalent from a board recognised by RGUHS with subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and English. 

• The candidate should have passed 10th with 40% (GM) and 35% (OBC/SC/ST) aggregate from recognised board

Duration

The duration of the course is 3 years for the students joining after their SSLC or 10th. While the duration of the course is 2 Years for the students joining after PUC or 10+2.
