BHMS - Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine & Surgery

Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine & Surgery (BHMS) students can find ample job opportunities as qualified and certified doctors after the completion of their BHMS course. They can start their own practice as homeopathic doctors or can join as Homeopathic physicians in homeopathic centres, healthcare and wellness centres, spas and hospitals, etc. Apart from this there are certain other job roles available for BHMS students.

1. Naturopathy Doctor

Naturopathy doctors encourage the clients to achieve optimal health and well-being through the use of natural therapies and homeopathic medicines.

Role of a Naturopathic Doctor

The Naturopathy doctors are specialised in nutritional therapy, osteopathy, homeopathy, acupuncture, herbal medicine. As a naturopathy doctor one is responsible to approach the healthcare system that blends the modern and scientific knowledge with traditional natural forms of treatment.

Responsibilities of a Naturopathic Doctor

As a Naturopathy Doctor one is needed to:

  • Carry out initial 60-90-minute consultations to gain detailed account of the person’s condition, medical history, diet and lifestyle and any conventional treatments that they may be taking
  • Carry out more specific assessments using techniques such as iridology or tongue and nail diagnosis to get better picture of the complete state of health of the client
  • If needed carry out pathology testing such as hair, urine, stool or blood samples
  • Take into account drug nutrient interactions, before making any recommendations
  • Recommend and give advice on diet changes, exercise regimes homeopathic medicines and remedies
  • Create personalised health programmes or treatment plans to address the areas of health conditions and prescribe course of homeopathic medicines

Earning Potential

  • The fresh BHMS graduate will be earning about 4 lakhs to 8 lakhs per annum as a Naturopathic Doctor
  • The experienced doctors will be earning about 6 lakhs to 10 lakhs per annum

2. Homeopathy Physician

The Homeopathic Physicians are doctors who practice homeopathy treatment methods and medicines to treat the health conditions of the patients and prescribe them the homeopathic treatment procedures for cure of their ailments.

Role of a Homeopathy Physician

The Homeopathy Physicians use homeopathic medicine and treatments for curing a health condition in the patients. The Homeopathy Physician takes a holistic approach towards the patients and looks for underlying causes of the illness and not just by its symptoms. They are also responsible to address a range of physical, emotional and psychological conditions that are occurred in patients due to the ailment.

Responsibilities of a Homeopathy Physician

As a Homeopathy Physician one is needed to:

  • Carry out initial consultations with patients to learn from their detailed case history
  • Use homeopathic remedies on a range of conditions like arthritis, eczema, depression and phobias
  • Monitor and evaluate patient progress
  • Instruct patients about the use and effects of particular remedies and respond to any queries they may have
  • Advice on lifestyle issues, such as diet, exercise and mental health
  • Refer patients to other practitioners if required
  • Keep detailed clinical notes and records for each patient
  • Keep updated about new methodologies and detailed information about homeopathic drugs

3. Assistant Professor (Homeopathy)

As an assistant professor (homeopathy) one is required to teach a range of subjects that are related to homeopathic treatments and medicines to the homeopathic students.

Role of an Assistant Professor (Homeopathy)

The Assistant Professors (Homeopathy) are responsible to teach the subjects and topics that are related to homeopathic sciences to the students and train them to become better and qualified homeopathic doctors in the future and serve the society.

Responsibilities of the Assistant Professor (Homeopathy)

As an Assistant Professor (Homeopathy) one is needed to:

  • Plan and prepare lecturers and topics related to his/her syllabus
  • Research and develop new topics, courses and teaching materials, including online resources
  • Share their valuable experiences as a Homeopathic doctor to the students and help them to face challenges faced in the field
  • Monitor and assess the marks of students work
  • Carry out pastoral role as a personal tutor to students
  • Provide additional support to students for complex topics
  • Ensure that students are given proper training on different topics and help them to implement them in practical scenarios
  • Prepare question papers for the annual exams and internal tests

  • The experienced Assistant Professors (Homeopathy) will be earning around 10 lakhs to 12 lakhs per annum

4. Homeopathic Herbalist

Homeopathic Herbalists are professionals who use homeopathic methods and treatments to cure various health conditions faced by the patients.

Role of a Homeopathic Herbalist

As a Homeopathic Herbalist one is responsible to have a thorough knowledge of medicinal herbs used in homeopathic techniques. They are responsible to promote good health and relieve illness in the patients. They will take a holistic approach to treat the patients, looking at the understanding causes of the illness and not only symptoms.

Responsibilities of a Homeopathic Herbalist

As a Homeopathic Herbalist one is required to:

  • Carry out initial consultations with patients to diagnose a condition of illness
