Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) (Post Baccalaureate): An Introduction
The Pharm D (Post Baccalaureate) is a 3 years doctorate degree that can be joined by the students after completing their B.Pharm degree. The course is an extension of B.Pharma and students will be studying in-depth about the subjects of B.Pharma. The course focuses more on clinical; pharmacy, pharmacy practice pharmaceutical care along with health care. The Pharm D (Post Baccalaureate) course is more like an integrated course and valuable than B. Pharma. The Pharm D (Post Baccalaureate) students will also gain skills such as diagnosis and treatment of diseases, selection and therapeutic usage of drugs monitoring the patients.
Eligibility for Pharm D (Post Baccalaureate)
The students should have completed their B.Pharma from the institute recognised by Pharmacy Council of India. The students should have scored 50% aggregate in all the subjects of B.Pharma course and are eligible to apply for Pharm D (Post Baccalaureate).
Admissions to Pharm D (Post Baccalaureate)
The B.Pharm students who are interested to join Pharm D (Post Baccalaureate) course can join by two modes (1) Merit admissions (2) Direct Admissions.
1. Merit Admissions
The B.Pharm students who are interested in merit seats for Pharm D (Post Baccalaureate) are required to appear for the PGCET entrance exam conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA). The students have to qualify the entrance exams with high marks in order to get admission to merit seats. The fees are fixed by the government and are nominal.
