Prime Minister Modi chaired a key review meeting on the implementation of New Education Policy NEP 2020. The meeting to review the implementation of NEP was held on 7th May 2022. PM Modi, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, other senior ministers and the officials from Education Ministry, UGC and NCERT were present in the meeting. The Prime Minister had a discussion on the road map of implementation for National Education Policy; he also discussed the key aspects such as Hybrid Education System, implementation of National Curriculum Framework and UGC's two-degree plan.

Prime Minister Modi further quoted that in the last two years , several important steps have been taken to ensure the implementation of key initiatives under NEP 2022. The Prime Minister also said that the key goal of NEP 2022 is to bring about equity, inclusivity and quality in the education sector. The Prime Minister further directed officials and ministers to prepare a detailed plan for the implementation of other key projects and initiatives to achieve the target.

School Level Initiatives 

According to the details, the National Steering Committee headed by Ex-ISRO chairman Dr.K Kasturirangan has been given the responsibility of developing the National Curriculum Framework, NCF. The Prime Minister further added that the primary target to help the school students by providing them a quality education and he also reviewed implementation of key initiatives at School Education Level including ECCE in Balavatika, Nipun Bharat, Vidya Pravesh, examination reforms and innovative methods like Art-Integrated Education and Toy-based method.

The Prime Minister further informed that it helped to bring out the best learning outcomes and increased the holistic development of children. During the meeting, the Prime Minister proposed the development of a Hybrid Learning Method for school children to avoid over exposure of technology to school-going children. The Prime Minister also advised to organize regular health check-ups of school students by using the technology-aided solution. The Prime Minister further added that secondary schools with science labs must engage with farmers to help them create awareness about the quality and health of soil.

Higher Level Initiative 

The Prime Minister further discussed the implementation of the Two Degree Programme for higher education by UGC with multiple entry and exit options for college students. The Prime Minister further stated that the implementation of the academic bank of credit and also reviewed the finalisation of the development of (NHEQF) National Higher Education Qualification Framework on which the work is still going on. There is a plan to revise the curriculum framework and credit system for UG Programme based on NHEQF.

Framework Of Multi Modal Education

The Prime Minister further added that online and MultiModal learning have been promoted in schools and higher education institutions in the recent past. The multi modal education platforms and initiatives launched under the same have played a vital role in bringing down the learning loss for students during COVID 19 pandemic. Not only this, but the initiatives also made it possible for education to reach remote areas which were not accessible in the country. 

There has been a constant increase in registrations of key platforms which offer MultiModal Education including “DIKSHA”, “SWAYAM” and “SWAYAM PRABHA”, besides virtual lapse and other online resources in the last two years. The availability of course related resources and study materials in multiple Indian languages had been very well appreciated by the students and the learners. The Prime Minister further stated that besides, the sign language and audio formats have aided visually impaired students and has been effective for specially challenged children.
