To provide a great relief for the students switching between engineering and medical courses in Karnataka, the state government has removed penalty fees for this academic year 2021-22. The confirmation was given by the Dr. C.N Ashwath Narayan Minister for Higher Education, Karnataka State Government. The decision was taken due to the delay in seat allotment after NEET UG counselling due to a petition filed in the court and it had serious implications on the students this year.

The officials further stated that this provision is only applicable for the current academic year in the Karnataka State only. Due to delay in NEET UG 2021 counselling many students have switched between medical and engineering. The minister further stated that those students who had got admitted to engineering or held engineering seats, but now if they have been allotted medical seats, then they can get admitted to medical courses without any penalty that is imposed by the State Government every year.
