The State government has decided to ban live virtual classes from LKG to Class 5 across all boards. The decision was taken after the authorities received complaints from parents about the duration of online classes that private schools were conducting.
Schools are free to conduct pre-recorded videos, along the lines of those conducted by the department on DD Chandana.
After a meeting with experts and department officials, Primary and Secondary Education Minister S. Suresh Kumar, at a press conference on Wednesday, said “Online classes cannot supplement classroom teaching. Many private schools are in a hurry to complete the syllabus but there is a need to move away from this approach. Besides, there is a need for consensus on screen time that students should be exposed during this exercise”.
The Government also said that the schools cannot collect excess fees for conducting online classes and if they can cut down on the fees they are welcomed to do so.
