announcement What is CAT Exam?

CAT (Common Admission Test) is the most sought after and most glamorous entrance examination for MBA/PGDM admission in India. CAT started in 1950 and is conducted by IIMs for Admission to their 2-year post-graduate management programs. The test is offered once a year and has one year validity. A number of other top B Schools in India accept CAT score as admission criteria.

It is considered as the most competitive entrance exam in the world and the acceptance rate in IMMs is around 2%, which is the lowest in the world. The highest CAT score so far is just below 100% and well above 99%. The 100 questions in total, with +3 -1 scoring, will give a maximum score of 300.The medium of language for the test is English.

CAT is of 3 hours duration and has three sections.

Fee

Candidates can apply for the exam in the site iimcat.ac.in and the test is held in 99 cities all over India in November/December.

The admission fee is:

  • Rs. 1900 for general category candidates.
  • Rs. 950 for SC/ST/DA (PWD) candidates.

Eligibility

Any University graduate with 50% marks (45% for reserved categories) can apply for the test. Final year degree students are also eligible to apply but should pass the degree with minimum marks at the time of interview. There is no age limit to apply for the test.
