What is the CLAT Exam?

The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a national level entrance exam conducted for the admissions for law courses in 22 National Law Universities (NLU) and other law colleges across the country. The students who aspire to join law schools have to qualify the CLAT exam. The CLAT exam is conducted by the apex body for law education in the country Consortium of National Law Schools.

The CLAT exam is conducted offline mode and the students have to give their exam in the specified exam centres on their hall ticket.

How to apply for CLAT Exam

The aspiring students have to follow the following steps in order to register for CLAT exam

  1. CLAT Registration: The candidates have to register on the CLAT login panel as a new registration. The students will get login credentials on their registered Email ID and registered mobile numbers

  2. Filling the application: The students have to carefully fill the application form without any mistakes. All the details should be filled carefully

  3. Documents Upload: The students have to upload the soft copies of the required documents and also upload their recent passport size photos

Fee Payment: The students have to pay the required fees through online payment or through bank challan

CLAT Exam is Mandatory for the following courses

The students interested to join different law courses are required to apply for the CLAT exam.

The courses under CLAT Exam are:

  • LL.B
  • BA LL.B
  • B.Com LL.B
  • BBA LL.B
  • LL.B (integrated course)
  • LL.M

Eligibility

UG Law courses (BA LL.B/B Com LL.B/BBA LL.B/LL.B Integrated)

The students who have completed their PUC or 10+2 in any stream with 45% (General) and 40% (OBC/SC/ST) from recognised board are eligible to apply for CLAT exam.

PG Law Courses (LL.M)

The students should have completed their law degree with 50% aggregate from recognised university for applying for LL.M course

Age Limit and No of Attempts for CLAT Exam

There is no age limit for applying for CLAT exam and there is no restriction on attempts for CLAT exam.
