  • Evaluate the software and systems that make computers and hardware work
  • Develop existing programmes by analysing with identifying areas for modification
  • Create technical specifications
  • Integrate existing software products and get incompatible platforms to work together
  • Write systems to control the scheduling of jobs or to control the access allowed to users to remote systems
  • Write operation documentation with technical authors
  • Maintain systems by monitoring and correcting software defects
  • Work closely with other staff such as project managers, graphic artists UX designers, other developer’s system analysts and sales and marketing professionals
  • Consult clients and colleagues concerning the maintenance and performance of software systems with a view of writing or modifying current operating systems
  • Investigate new technologies
  • Continually update technical knowledge and skills by attending in-house and external courses reading manual’s and accessing new applications

Earning Potential

The fresh M.Tech/ME student will be earning around 8 lakhs to 10 lakhs per annum as a software engineer. The experienced professionals will be earning around 12 lakhs to 15 lakhs per annum.

Aerospace Engineer

As an aerospace engineer one will be working on cutting edge technologies that are related to the aviation sector like in aircraft design, landing gear, aircraft engines and avionics, etc.

Role of an Aerospace Engineer

As a role of an Aerospace engineer one is responsible to research, design, maintain and test the performance of different types of aircrafts. The aerospace engineers will be working at different components of an aircraft like aircraft design, avionics, aircraft engines, landing gears, wings, radars, etc.

Responsibilities of an Aerospace Engineer

As an aerospace engineer one is needed to:

  • Apply the principles of science and technology to create aircraft components and support equipment
  • Research and develop design specifications and use computer aided design software to create plans
  • Supervise the assembly of airframes and the installation of engineers
  • Take part in flight test programmes to measure take off distances, rate of climb, stall speeds, Manoeuvrability and landing capacities
  • Resolve issues that arise during the design, development and testing processes
  • Maintain aircraft on full operation including making regular inspections maintenance, repairs and servicing
  • Measure and improve the performance of aircraft, components and systems
  • Modify designs to improve safety features or minimise fuel consumption and pollution
  • Investigate aircraft accidents
  • Collate information, interpret data and publish the results of specific projects in technical report form
  • Communicate technical and regulatory advice to clients, teams, suppliers and other professionals within the aerospace industry

Earning Potential

The fresh M.Tech/ME student will be earning around 7 lakhs to 9 lakhs per annum as a Aerospace engineer. The experienced professionals will be earning around 15 lakhs to 20 lakhs per annum.

Automotive Engineer

Automotive engineers design, develop and manufacture vehicles such as cars, motorbikes, buses and trucks and their engineering systems. They use their engineering skills to design new vehicles, new engines that are more efficient and reachable to the vehicle lovers.

Role of an Automotive Engineer

As an automotive engineer, one will design new products and in some cases, modify these currently in use. As an automotive engineer one is responsible to identify and solve engineering problems.

Responsibilities of an Automotive Engineer

As an automotive engineer one is needed to:

  • Use computer aided design (CAD) to develop ideas and produce designs
  • Decide on the most appropriate materials for component production
  • Solve engineering problems using mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, thermodynamic principles
  • Build prototypes of components and test their performance weaknesses and safety
  • Take consideration changing customer needs and governmental emission regulations when developing new designs and manufacturing procedures
  • Supervise and inspect the installation and adjustment of mechanical systems in industrial plants
  • Investigate mechanical failures or unexpected maintenance problems
  • Coordinate with suppliers and handle supply chain management issues
  • Manage projects including budgets, production schedules, resources, staff and supervise quality control
  • Inspect and test drive vehicles and check for faults

Earning Potential

The fresh M.Tech/ME student will be earning around 6 lakhs to 8 lakhs per annum as an automotive engineer. The experienced professionals will be earning around 10 lakhs to 12 lakhs per annum.

Chemical Engineers develop raw materials into a range of useful products. A career in the field will see you creating petrochemicals, medicine and plastics.

Role of a Chemical Engineer

As a chemical engineer one will be involved in design and development of a diverse range of products. As a chemical engineer one will focus on changing the chemical, biochemical and physical state of a substance to turn it into something else such as making plastic from oil.

Responsibilities of a Chemical Engineer

As a chemical engineer one is needed to:

  • Work closely with process chemists and control engineers to ensure the process plant is set up to provide maximum output levels and efficient running of production facility
  • Design plant and equipment configuration so that they can be readily adapted to suit the product range and the process technologies involved taking environmental and economic aspects into account
  • Set up scale up and scale-down processes, including making appropriate changes to equipment design and configuration
  • Assess options for plant expansion or reconfiguration by developing and testing and troubleshooting
  • Optimise production by analysing processes and compiling debottleneck studies
  • Apply new technologies
  • Research new products from trial through the commercialisation and improve product lines
  • Ensure that potential safety issues related to the project operation, the environment, the process and the product and considered at all stages

Earning Potential
