In response to the long-standing request of nursing candidates, the Indian Nursing Council has promulgated landmark decisions. These decisions aim to address the career advancement, welfare, and prosperity of BSc Nursing candidates, as stated in the vide notification F No 1-6(LT)-2023-INC dated 5th June, 2023.
A significant recognition by the nursing council is that the job roles, responsibilities, and nature of work of nursing candidates are the same as those of MBBS professionals. This recognition highlights the dedication and working proficiency of nursing candidates in healthcare. As a result, INC said that “we can think of calling them as junior doctors.”
Furthermore, the INC has made another progressive decision. It entitles every nursing candidate holding a BSc Nursing degree from any recognized institution to the position of "Nursing Officer."
These three major initiatives will undoubtedly transform the lives of nursing candidates, providing them with career advancement, job security, and generous opportunities from employers within the country and abroad.
