The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has approved the establishment of 21 new Sainik Schools in collaboration with NGOs, private schools, and state governments. These schools will be built as part of the first round of the government's cooperation programme to build 100 new Sainik schools around the country. They will be unique from the currently operating Sainik Schools.
The objectives of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's vision of establishing 100 new Sainik Schools are to provide quality education to pupils in accordance with National Education Policy and to provide them with better career prospects, including entering the Armed Forces. It also allows the private sector to collaborate with the government on nation building by preparing today's youth to be responsible citizens of tomorrow.
A list of 21 newly approved Sainik Schools per state/UT is appended and can also be accessed at https://sainikschool.ncog.gov.in/. 17 of these schools are now functioning Brownfield schools, with four Greenfield schools set to open soon. While NGOs, Trusts, and Societies have a share of the 12 new Sainik schools that have been approved, there are also 6 private schools and three State Government-owned schools on the list. Unlike current Sainik Schools, which are solely residential, seven new Sainik Schools are day schools, while 14 of the new approved schools have residential accommodations.
Apart from their affiliation with respective education boards, these new Sainik Schools will operate under the aegis of the Sainik Schools Society and will follow the Society's Rules and Regulations by new Sainik schools in partnership mode. They will provide Academic PLUS instruction to students of the Sainik school pattern in addition to their usual affiliated board curriculum. Details about these school’s operating procedures may be found at https://sainikschool.ncog.gov.in/.
