The Minister for Higher Education and Skill Development Dr. C.N. Ashwath Narayan participated in the Job fair at Malnad Engineering College at Hassan. The minister at the fair stated that lakhs of youths would get jobs in Karnataka as the Information Technology sector would be offering 30 lakh jobs in the next five years. More than 80 companies took part in the job fair with over 5,000 openings and around 1,600 jobs were based in Hassan.
The minister further assured students that those who fail to get a job in the event are not required to worry as they can enrol on a skill development programme organised by the government. The minister further said that all the students who wish to enhance their skills and get prepared for suitable jobs can participate in the skill development programmes organised by the government. These programmes are offered in collaboration with the Industries that give training opportunities followed by job offers for the students. The minister further stated that under the Skill Development Programme, the government is committed to create 2.5 lakh jobs.
The minister further stated that every year nearly five lakh people would be getting jobs and Karnataka had been growing fast as a land of opportunities. The minister further stated that the department had brought in reforms in the education system so that students could develop future skills and enhance their chances of getting jobs.
The minister further stated that with the introduction of the New Education Policy, the students were being trained in future skills, irrespective of the stream they have been in and they are trained into skilled professionals to get suitable jobs.
