Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) has once again emerged as the top institute in India by making its way into “Top 10 best educational institutes of the country”.
Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) retained the top position in the top 10 education institutes of India for the third consecutive year. The IIT Madras has stood first rank in the 'Overall' and 'Engineering' category in NIRF Rankings 2021.
IISc Bengaluru has been ranked at second in the overall ranking. The IIT Bombay has taken the third spot on the top universities list. The IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur and IIT Kharagpur have been ranked in fourth, fifth and sixth positions respectively. The Jawaharlal Nehru University and Banaras Hindu University have secured ninth and tenth ranks respectively.
The AIIMS Delhi has maintained first rank in medical colleges whereas PGIMER Chandigarh and Christian Medical College, Vellore have secured second rank and third rank respectively.
The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad ranked as the best B-School, while Jamia Hamdard was declared as the top institution for pharmacy studies.
The NIRF Rankings 2021 were announced today, on September 9th 2021 by Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in the virtual event.
NIRF Rankings
The National Institute of Ranking Framework (NIRF) is approved by the Minister of Human Resource Development (MHRD) Government of India and was formulated on 29th September 2015. The NIRF ranking framework evaluates institutions on five broad generic groups of parameters –
Teaching, Learning and Resources (TLR)
Research and Professional Practice (RP)
Graduation Outcomes (GO)
Outreach and Inclusivity (OI)
Perception (PR).
The NIRF rankings are assigned based on the total sum of marks assigned for each of these five broad groups of parameters.
