Nursing is all about providing care to people suffering from health conditions. The aim of providing care is to recover them from an illness. Nurses are important to the community; it is because they help the sick to become healthy again. Nurses encourage the health of people and communities.

The nursing course is the largest and most diverse of all the health care professions. Today, the healthcare system encourages diversity in nursing. Nurses from different races, gender and culture will provide better health. With such diversity a deeper grip of the elements which decides a person’s health comes.

Master of Nursing

The course is designed to assist students in developing expertise and in-depth understanding in the field of cardiovascular and thoracic nursing. It will help students to develop advanced skills for nursing intervention in various cardio medical and surgical conditions.

Medical Surgical Nursing - Critical Care Nursing

Critical care nursing or intensive care unit (ICU) nursing, is a specialty focused on the care of unstable, chronically ill or post-surgical patients and those at risk from life-threatening diseases and injuries. Like other nursing specialties, a profession in critical care nursing requires an understanding of human anatomy and physiology, sharp clinical assessment skills, vast knowledge about diseases and conditions, and ongoing education related to recommended ICU treatment options.

Medical Surgical Nursing - Oncology Nursing

This course is designed to assist students in developing expertise and in-depth understanding in the field of oncology Nursing. It will help students to develop advanced skills for Nursing intervention in various oncological conditions. It will enable the student to function as an oncology nurse practitioner/specialist and provide quality care. It will further enable the student to function as educator, Manager and researcher in the field of oncology nursing.

Medical Surgical Nursing - Neurosciences Nursing

This course provides clinically focussed content that will enable the students to critically analyse current neurological and neurosurgical theory and practices. Students will apply an evidence- based approach for understanding care, diagnostics and management of the patient with neurological conditions such as intracranial lesions and vascular abnormalities.

Medical Surgical Nursing - Nephro - Urology Nursing

Nephrology Nursing is the nursing discipline that focuses on the most intense thinking for patients suffering from discriminatingly ill or dysfunctional chronic excretory organs.  The nurses of this specialisation are given exhaustive knowledge about the kidney malfunctions. They are also trained to conduct dialysis on patients. The nurses of this specialisation are also trained to give the first level of treatment that is related to excretory organs.

Medical Surgical Nursing - Orthopaedic Nursing

Orthopaedic nursing is a specialty that focuses on musculoskeletal diseases and disorders.  These orthopaedic issues include conditions like arthritis, bone fractures, broken bones, joint replacements, genetic malformations and osteoporosis. Orthopaedic nurses are familiar with traction, casting, mobility devices and pain management. When musculoskeletal conditions require surgery, orthopaedic nurses assist physicians with preparation for the procedure and assists patients with their postoperative recovery

Medical Surgical Nursing - GastroEnterology Nursing

Gastroenterology is a field of medicine that focuses on the health of the digestive system, including the stomach and bowels. Diseases and illnesses of the digestive tract often produce very uncomfortable symptoms and will often affect the health of the body as a whole. Gastroenterologists and gastroenterology nurses focus on treating and caring for individuals suffering from diseases and disorders of the digestive tract.

M.Sc Nursing: Obstetric & Gynaecological Nursing

Obstetrics and gynaecology nurses are also known as OB nurses, OB GYNs and perinatal nurses. These professionals work with women during pregnancy, labour and childbirth and provide postpartum care. The role of the OB nurse is critically important during the volatile months of pregnancy; OB GYNs provide support to women as they face a transition to motherhood and experience a wide array of physical and emotional changes.

M.Sc Nursing: Paediatric (Child Health) Nursing

A Paediatric Nurse (also known as a Children’s Nurse) is a nursing professional who cares for children and teens suffering from a variety of different conditions. M.Sc Nursing: Psychiatric (Mental Health) Nursing

Psychiatric nurse practitioners (NPs) are certified advanced practice nurses who administer to the mental health needs of individuals, families, groups or communities. Psychiatric NPs assess and diagnose patients, provide psychotherapy and prescribe medication. They treat patients with diagnosed disorders, as well as those with family histories or other factors that increase the likelihood of potential mental illness. In keeping with nurse practitioners’ holistic approach to health care, psychiatric nurse practitioners educate and inform patients and their families about mental health issues and steps they can take to boost their care.

M.Sc Nursing: Community Health Nursing

Community health nurses serve the public in their own environments to promote wellness and improve healthcare. They are educators and advocates of good mental health. A community health nurse or public health nurse identifies people in need and reaches out to them. Whether they are helping young pregnant women, the elderly or victims of crime, community health nurses spearhead efforts to aid vulnerable groups of people.

The M.Sc Nursing is aimed at giving in-depth understanding of the nursing techniques and skills with its specific specialisations. The nursing students after the completion of their B.Sc Nursing course can choose to join masters. In the master’s course they have the option to choose different specialisations according to their interests. The specialisations chosen by the students determine their job role and scope of work. The M.Sc Nursing students will develop expertise in a specific specialisation and they are also hired in hospitals based on their specialisations chosen in their master’s.
