The increasing and the aging population has led to a significant expansion of the healthcare industry demanding for skilled professionals in numerous establishments such as hospitals, clinics and different healthcare industries. Nursing is an evergreen medical profession which is always on demand making it one of the sought- after professions in India.      

The nursing profession in India is undergoing a vigorous change by several factors. Some of the factors are as follows:

Increasing demand for healthcare professionals

The aging population: The increasing population also increases the aging population which in turn increases the demand for the healthcare professionals. Growing modernization has given birth to new diseases and numerous life-style related health issues demanding for various healthcare professionals including nurses. 

Rapid Urbanization: The growth of healthcare services in urban areas, as well as increased healthcare infrastructure in rural areas, is increasing the demand for nurses.

Education and Training

Establishment of new Institutions: The establishment of numerous nursing institutions is allowing candidates from the rural background to pursue nursing, contributing to increase the nursing profession.    

Professional Opportunities

The scope of nursing in India is broad and offers several opportunities across various healthcare settings and specializations. As the healthcare sector is growing continuously the demand for skilled nurses is growing every day making it a promising career. 

GNM Nursing is a foundational course that trains individuals for becoming professionals in general nursing and midwifery. The course allows students to enter the nursing profession and explore various opportunities allowing them to become healthcare professionals ready to provide intensive care to the patients. 

B.Sc. Nursing 

Bachelor of Science in Nursing popularly known as B.Sc. Nursing is a four-year undergraduate programme training students for a career in nursing. The students are trained in various aspects of medical science and healthcare preparing them for a career in the healthcare industry. 

Conclusion

While the nursing profession is facing various challenges for professional recognition and the working conditions, the growing demand for healthcare professionals is growing day by day. The advancement in science and technology and establishment of various nursing institutes has created an environment favourable for the nursing profession.
