Professor

As a professor one is responsible to teach a subject thoroughly to the students and according to the prescribed syllabus. They are required to teach in such a way that by engaging them and preparing them for the future.

Role of the Professor

As a professor one is responsible to support, observe and record progress of the students. They are responsible to plan lessons in line with the syllabus with an aim of ensuring a healthy culture of learning.

Responsibilities of a Professor

As a Professor one is needed to:

  • Prepare and deliver lessons to a range of classes according to the prescribed syllabus
  • Mark work, give appropriate feedback and maintain records of students, progress and development
  • Research new topic areas, maintaining up-to-date subject knowledge and devise and write new curriculum materials
  • Select and use a range of different learning resources and equipment, including podcasts and interactive whiteboards
  • Prepare the students for qualifications and external examinations
  • Manage student’s behaviour in the classroom and on school premises and apply appropriate and effective measures in cases of misbehaviour
  • Undertake pastoral duties, such as taking on the role of form tutor and supporting students on an individual basis through academic or personal difficulties
  • Communicate with parents about the students’ progress and participate in departmental meetings, parents' evenings and training events
  • Coordinate with other professionals, such as learning mentors, careers advisers, educational psychologists and education welfare officers
  • Supervise and support the work of teaching assistants, trainee teachers and newly qualified teachers
  • Participate in and organise extracurricular activities, such as outings, social activities and sporting events for students
  • Undergo regular observations and participate in regular in-service training as part of continuing professional development

Salary and Emoluments

A fresh MA English graduate will be earning around 3 lakhs to 5 lakhs per annum. The experienced professors will be earning around 6 lakhs to 10 lakhs per annum. The salary depends on the location and recruiter.

English and Foreign language Teacher

The English and foreign language teacher basically help the adults and children to learn or improve their English to communicate in other countries

Role of the English and Foreign Language Teacher

As an EFL teacher, one is responsible to use a range of course books and materials, plus a variety of audio-visual aids, to encourage students to communicate with each other using the structures and vocabulary they've learnt and to improve the four basic language skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing.

Responsibilities of an English and Foreign Language Teacher

As an English and foreign language teacher one is responsible to:

  • Plan, prepare and deliver lessons to a range of classes and age groups
  • Prepare and set tests, examination papers and exercises
  • Mark and provide appropriate feedback on oral and written work
  • Devise, write and produce new materials, including audio and visual resources
  • Organise and get involved in social and cultural activities such as sports competitions, college excursions and dinners
  • Attend and contribute to training sessions
  • Participate in marketing events for the language school
  • Prepare information for inspection visits and other quality assurance exercises
  • Undertake administrative tasks, such as keeping student registers and attendance records.

Salary and Emoluments

A fresh MA English graduate will be earning around 4 lakhs to 6 lakhs per annum. As an experienced English and foreign language teacher, one will be earning around 6 lakhs to 8 lakhs per annum. The salary depends on the location and recruiter.

Lexicographer

The Lexicographers are required to have a fascination for words and how their meanings develop and change over time. As a lexicographer one is involved in writing, compiling and editing dictionaries for print and online publication

Role of a Lexicographer

As a lexicographer, one is responsible to search specialist databases comprising thousands of pieces of language from a range of sources, including literature, newspapers, online journals, blogs, discussion groups and transcripts of television and radio for evidence of meanings and usages of a word or phrase.

Responsibilities of a Lexicographer

As a Lexicographer one is responsible to:

  • Research and identify new words that are in common usage for inclusion in the dictionary
  • Create new entries using accurate and succinct definitions
  • Accurately represent the various meanings of new and existing words
  • Assess which meaning of a word is the primary (most used) meaning and which meanings are secondary or less commonly used
  • Review and edit existing definitions
  • Check and proofread the entries
  • Make sure that the style and format of words is in strict accordance with previously agreed protocols
  • Translate words and expressions in both directions in various languages

Salary and Emoluments

A fresh MA English graduate will be earning around 4 lakhs to 6 lakhs per annum. As experienced lexicographers, one will be earning around 6 lakhs to 9 lakhs per annum. The salary depends on the location and recruiter.

Content Writer

The content writers are responsible to understand their audience and engage them through engaging and persuasive with accurate writing and should be essential to decode the complex technical terminologies into simple words so that it is understood by a large number of audiences.

Role of a Content Writer

As a content writer one is responsible to produce the written content for web pages, working in an employed position in an organisation. As a content writer one is responsible to engage the reader and motivate them to do something, such as buy a product or service. The content writers are also required to write content designed to convey valuable information about a brand, industry or issue.

Responsibilities of a Content Writer

As a Content Writer one is needed to:

  • Coordinate with clients - from set-up to completion and is also responsible to check with the client regularly
  • Carry out project scoping and create a clear brief, in order to ensure and understand what the client wants
  • Tailor the content and style of individual writing assignments according to client’s purpose - whether they are intended to sell or inform
  • Understand the target audience and ensure that the information is communicated properly to the readers according to their interests
  • Identify key messages - understand the main thing that what a reader wants and communicate the information properly and powerfully
  • Work with creative teams to ensure that the visual elements of the webpage complement the words
  • Research about the client's industry and their audience
  • Identify fresh and interesting angles for articles
  • Write for content for web pages, blogs and potentially for social media, e-books, slogans, and video script
  • Provide other digital content, such as images and video, if required
  • Input your content to the client's content management software (CMS), if required
  • Work with the team to review the impact of the work
  • Assist with business pitches to win new clients or projects.
