  • Assist in work area in central sterile between scrub assignments
  • Assist in keeping overall operating room clean and tidy
  • Report on and off duty at control
  • Assist circulating nurse with care of the patient while in the room, providing nursing care to all the patients
  • Check daily to keep abreast of new changes occurring in the operating system
  • Understand and perform standardization of set-ups
  • Assist the senior doctors in operation theatres
  • Keep ready all the operation equipments for surgery
  • Sterilize the operation theatre after each surgery

Salary & Emoluments

The fresh diploma in operation theatre technology students will be earning around 2.5 lakhs to 3.5 lakhs per annum. The experienced professionals will be earning around 3.5 lakhs to 4.5 lakhs per annum. The salary and emoluments may change according to location and recruiters.

Anaesthesia Consultant

The main responsibility of the anaesthesia consultant is to advise on the right amounts of dosage and levels of anaesthesia for the patients who are undergoing the surgery. 

Role of Anaesthesia Consultant

The anaesthesia consultant is responsible to give the exact dosage of the anaesthesia for the patients and should be very careful in judging the patient’s requirement. Even a small mistake may end up in fatality and sometimes permanent disability or loss of life. So, they should be very cautious while prescribing the anaesthesia dosage for the patients.

Responsibilities of the Anaesthesia Consultant 

The important roles and responsibilities of an anaesthesia consultants are

  • To administer the right amounts of the anaesthesia to the patients according to the condition of the patient under the guidance of the expert physician

Role of Surgical Lab Technician

The surgical lab technicians are responsible to preserve the cells and lab specimens of the patients. They also maintain the donated organs from the donors until it is implanted to the recipient patients. The time span is very less between the donor and recipient. So, it is very important to preserve the donated organs in the proper storage mechanisms.

Responsibilities of the Surgical Lab Technicians

As a surgical lab technician, one is responsible to:

  • Gather, check and open supplies and equipment needed for the surgical procedure
  • Perform the surgical scrub and donning gown and gloves
  • Set up the sterile back table, mayo stands with instruments, supplies, equipment and medications needed for the surgical procedure
  • Prepare and anticipate additional instrumentation, equipment and supplies for usage during the surgical procedure
  • Measures and passes medication, haemostatic agents and irrigation solutions utilized during the surgical procedure
  • Holds retractors or instruments as directed by the surgeons
  • Sponges or suctions the operative site
  • Apply electrocautery to clams or forceps on bleeders
  •  Prepare sterile dressings for terminal striation
  • Sterilize the operation theatre after every surgery
