Press Sub Editor

As a Press Sub-Editor, one is expected to have an excellent eye for detail. As a press sub-editor, one is responsible to have an ability to coordinate with journalists and other editors and they should also possess creativity to write compelling headlines.

Role of the Press Sub-Editor

The Press Sub-Editors are required to check, edit the articles before they are published in newspapers and magazines. They are also responsible for ensuring the correct, grammar, spelling, house style and tone of the published work.

Responsibilities of the Press Sub Editor

As a press sub-editor, one is needed to:

  • Editing copy, written by reporters or features, writers to remove spelling mistakes and grammatical errors
  • Rewriting material so that it flows or reads better and adheres to the house style of a particular publication
  • Ensuring that a story fits a particular word count by cutting or expanding material as necessary
  • Writing headlines that captures the essence of the story or are clever or amusing
  • Coordinating with reporters, journalists and editors
  • Checking facts and stories to ensure they are actually accurate and adhere to the copyright laws
  • Cropping photos and deciding where to use them for best effect and writing proofing symbols
  • Working to a page plan to ensure that the right stories appear in the correct place on page
  • Laying out pages and depending, on the nature at the role, playing a part in page design
  • Manipulating on screen copy using appropriate desktop publishing softwares
  • Keeping up to date with sector issues
  • Adapting all these skills for a publication website

Salary and Emoluments

  • As a Press Sub Editor, the fresh MA Media and Communication students will be earning around 6 lakhs to 8 lakhs per annum
  • The senior and experienced professionals will be earning around 7 lakhs to 9 lakhs per annum

Television Production Coordinator

The television production coordinator career is considered as a highly competitive career where the professionals are required to work in an organised way under severe pressure.

Roles of a Television production Coordinator

As a Television Production Coordinator, one is responsible for the administration, organisations and secretarial work involved in producing a television programme. As a Television Production Coordinator, one will work in different kinds of programmes such as news and current affairs, reality shows, soap operas, drama, film, comedies, etc.

Responsibilities of a Television Production Coordinator

As a Television production Coordinator, one is needed to:

  • Type and distribute schedules or call sheets and attend production meetings
  • Help to setup the production office with the necessary supplies
  • Type, edit, copy and distribute scripts
  • Organise travel arrangements for cast, crew and production executives
  • Organise accommodation for cast and crew
  • Sort out enquiries and other paperwork
  • Set up relevant insurance cover and help with visas for cast and crew

Broadcast Presenter

As a Broadcast presenter one will work in highly competitive industries such as television and radio presenters. He/she is responsible for creating quality content that can reach the audiences in large numbers.

Role of a Broadcast Presenter

A Broadcast Presenter is the face or voice of programmes, broadcasts via televisions, radio and the internet. As a broadcast manager one will work on a variety of platforms, including national, regional, satellite and cable television, local and national radio and online platforms. The role of the broadcast presenter is to entertain and inform the audience by presenting information in an accessible and attractive way.

Responsibilities of a Broadcast Presenter

As a Broadcast presenter one is needed to:

  • Research topics and background information for items to be features on the programme
  • Plan and rehearse shows
  • Create attractive scripts and present them to audiences
  • Coordinate with other members of the production and technical teams
  • Introduce and host programmes
  • Read short news, traffic, sports or weather reports
  • Keep the programming running to schedule, responding positively and quickly to problems or changes and improvising where necessary
  • Meet with the production crew to assess or review a broadcast and to plan the next one

Salary and Emoluments

  • As a Broadcast Presenter, the fresh MA Media and Communication students will be earning around 5 lakhs to 8 lakhs per annum
  • The senior and experienced professionals will be earning around 8 lakhs to 10 lakhs per annum
