Few Lines about Life Science
Life Science is the study of life and living organisms and their life processes. The field of life sciences has experienced a fundamental revolution from traditional in vivo discovery methods to electronic scientific discovery consisting in collecting measurement data through a variety of technologies and annotating and exploring the resulting electronic data sets over the years and it continues to grow further.
Life science comprises fields of science involving the study of living organisms such as plants, animals and humans. While biology remains the centrepiece of the life sciences, technological advances in molecular biology and biotechnology have led to a flourishing of specialisations and new interdisciplinary fields. The Life Science field is an upcoming field and is attracting a lot of popularity among the students of life science background.
Few lines about M.Sc Life Science
The M.Sc Life Science is a 2-years post graduate degree programme that is divided into 4- semesters. The course gives a deeper study of the various life processes in plants, animals and human beings along with microorganisms like fungi, algae and viruses. The course gives a detailed understanding of all the levels of life processes starting from molecular and cellular levels to the major life processes like respiration, digestion, reproduction, etc.
The course is about the study of organisms at all the possible levels. The course is an advanced level master degree course and thus requires pre-understanding of the workings of the organisms to a more general level. The course is the combination of biology at microorganism level as well as at the level of human beings.
Eligibility for M.Sc Life Science
The B.Sc students from any discipline of biological sciences with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate are eligible to apply for the M.Sc Life Science course.
Admission Procedure
The students can take admission to M.Sc Life Science course by two modes. The first one is merit-based admission and second one is direct admissions.
Let’s discuss in detail
1. Merit-based Admission
There are many reputed colleges and universities that conduct entrance exams for the merit- seats. This process of admission is called the merit-based process. The students have to qualify these institution-based entrance-exams to get admitted to merit seats. The main aim of the entrance exam is to select the serious and hardworking students from the group of non-serious students. The qualified students are allotted merit seats and given admission to colleges. The fees are nominal for merit-based admission.
