Fashion Design is really a form of art that is dedicated to the creation of clothing and other accessories that form a part of someone’s lifestyle and style quotient. Modern fashion designing can be further divided into two broad categories ready to wear and haute couture (high dressmaking).
The ready to wear kind of collections are sized standardly and are not custom made, so they are more suitable towards larger production runs. While the haute couture collections are dedicated to a set of privileged customers and are custom sized so that they can fit only those customers.
Apparel Management
Apparel Management and clothing is a professional course concerned with the make and management of clothing and apparel. The textile industry is often combined with fashion merchandising and design and universities that prepare students to enter a career in textile management usually have one department for textile, fashion and design. The goal of these programmes is to create professionals who will enter the field able and willing to create and interpret knowledge of clothing materials to better serve the industry.

M.Sc Fashion Design & Apparel Management is a 2-years postgraduate course that is divided into 4-semesters. The main focus of this course is to provide a graduate learning pathway through distinct levels of subject competencies and differentiated areas of in-depth learning in the field of apparel fashions and design.
The course develops the students by encouraging them to learn and develop sensitivity to take up challenges and demonstrate their personal design philosophy. The course gives the students an exposure to different areas of design and will be learning design vocabulary. The course combines fashion studies and intensive studio practices.
Eligibility for M.Sc Fashion Design & Apparel Management
The students who have passed B.Sc Fashion & Apparel Management/ BA Fashion/BFA/B.Voc Fashion and other related areas with 50% aggregate from recognised university are eligible to apply for M.Sc Fashion Design & Apparel Management course.
Admission to M.Sc Fashion Design & Apparel Management
The eligible students can take admission to M.Sc Fashion Design & Apparel Management course by two modes. The first one is merit based and the second in direct admission.
1. Merit Based Admission
There are many reputed colleges and universities that conduct institution-based entrance exams for the admission to M.Sc Fashion Design & Apparel Management course, such mode of admission is called merit-based entrance exam. Every college has a limited number of merit seats and the entrance exams are conducted to these seats. The main reason to conduct entrance exams is to select the hardworking and serious students from the group of non-serious ones. The qualified students are then allotted merit seats and the fees is nominal for these merit seats.
