What is Filmmaking?
Filmmaking in an academic context is the process of making a film, generally in the sense of films, intended for extensive theoretical exhibition. Filmmaking involves a number of discrete stages including an initial story idea or commission through screenwriting, casting, shooting, sound recording and pre-production, editing and screening the finished product before an audience that may result in a film release and exhibition. Introduction to B.Sc Filmmaking
The B.Sc Filmmaking is a 3-year undergraduate programme that is divided into 6 semesters. The main aim of B.Sc filmmaking course is to train the students about the technicalities of the process of filmmaking. The course trains the students on different modules of filmmaking such as direction, production, acting, camerawork, studio mixing, editing, screenplay, story writing, etc.
The B.Sc Film making programmes includes comprehensive theoretical and practical use of all aspects of filmmaking. Starting from concept development and script writing to create dramatics, cinematography and editing. The main objective of the course is to prepare the talented students into expert film professionals for the future. The course aims to give a holistic understanding of the concepts of filmmaking and film development.
Eligibility for B.Sc Filmmaking course
The students who have passed PUC or 10+2 from any stream are eligible to apply for B.Sc Filmmaking course.
Admission Procedures
The students can take admission to B.Sc Filmmaking by two modes of admission. The first one is merit-based admission and second one is direct admissions.
1. Merit based admission
There are many reputed educational institutes that conduct entrance exams for admissions to B.Sc Filmmaking course. This mode is called the merit-based admission process. These educational institutes will have limited merit-seats that will be allotted to the students who qualify the entrance exams. The main idea of institution-based entrance exams is to filter the serious candidates from the group of non-serious candidates. The fees for these merit seats is nominal.
2. Direct Admissions
The students can also take admission to B.Sc Filmmaking course by another mode known as direct admissions. The students can directly take admission to desired colleges under management quota. The main advantage of this mode of admission is that the students are exempted to appear for any institution-based entrance-exams as they are given special privileges. The second benefit of the direct admission is that the students can choose their desired colleges and book their seats even before the starting of the academic year.
