What is meant by Tourism Management?
Tourism management involves a multitude of activities such as studying tour destinations, planning the tour, making travel arrangements and providing accommodation to all the holiday makers. It also involves marketing efforts to attract tourists to travel to particular destinations. Tourism is travelling with an objective of spending leisure time for recreation.
Introduction to Bachelor of Travel and Tourism Management (BTTM)
The Bachelor of Travel and Tourism Management (BTTM) is a 4-years undergraduate course that is divided into 8-semesters. The course aims to build in eligible students a firm foundation in all the facets of the tourism and hospitality industry. The students are taught advanced concepts involved in marketing management and planning skills and their application to various fields within the industry. The course has been designed to equip the students with a sound understanding of the tourism industry and its role in the world. Students will get an exposure to the behaviour of the tourism businesses and how they operate and impact on the tourism on countries, cultures and the environments.
The course trains the student to develop a strong working knowledge of the tourism industry. The course will train the students on various subjects like cultural tourism, eco-tourism, sociology of tourism. They also learn the economic role of tourism on the local people.
Eligibility for BTTM course
The students who have completed their PUC or 10+2 in any stream with 50% aggregate in all the subjects from the recognised board are eligible to join BTTM course.
Admission procedure
The students can join the BTTM course by two modes of admission, the first one is merit-based admission and second one is direct admission.

1. Merit Based Admission
There are many reputed colleges that conduct institution-based entrance exams for admission to BTTM course, such mode of admission is called merit-based admission. The students have to qualify the institution-based entrance exam in order to get admission to the colleges under merit quota. The qualified students are allotted seats under merit-based admissions in various colleges. The main reason for conducting entrance exams is to filter out the hardworking and serious students from non-serious students, and the fee is nominal in merit admissions.
