Introduction

The ‘National Fellowship and Scholarship for Higher Education of ST students’ scholarship scheme is intended to encourage meritorious ST students to pursue courses at graduate/postgraduate level in identified Institutions of excellence of Government and Private that are recognised by Central Government, State Government and Union Territory Administration. The scholarship id awarded to promote the education in ST students in various professional fields such as Management, Medicine, Engineering, Information Technology, Law etc.

Funding

The ‘National Fellowship and Scholarship for Higher Education of ST students’ is 100% funded by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India. The funds will be released in a single instalment for scholarship immediately after the registration/admission.

Availability

Every year a total number of 1000 fresh scholarships are awarded to the meritorious ST students

Eligibility

The scholarship will be available only for the ST candidates who fulfil the following conditions: 

  • The ST students who have secured admission in the notified Institutions according to the norms prescribed by the respective Institutions will be eligible for the scholarship under the scheme.
  • The total family income of the candidate from all sources should not exceed Rs.6.0 LPA.
  • The scholarship shall be payable once the student has secured admission and started attending the classes
  • The ST students should have secured 50% aggregate in the Class X 

Duration

The scholarships shall be provided for the entire course of the academic year, subject to satisfactory performance.

 Benefits

  • The scholarship will be awarded to the students studying in Class XI and XII including technical and vocational courses of this level including Polytechnics, ITIs, and other courses.
  • The scholarship, once awarded, may be renewed during the next academic year of the course on the production of a certificate that the student has secured 50% marks in the previous year’s examination (provided the student pursues the same course and same Institute/School). 

Mode of Application

An end-to-end online portal www.scholarships.gov.in for application, processing, approval, disbursement and monitoring has been developed by this Ministry. Candidates after taking admission for the various courses in the notified universities/Institutes can submit the application online for scholarships.

In case of students who cannot complete the course in due time, provision for extension of scholarships according to the norm of course may be made only for admissible tuition fee subject to report in this regard being given by Principal/Dean of College/Institution.

Documents Required

  • The marksheet of marks 50% secured in the previous academic year’s final exam
  • Annual family Income Certificate for the preceding financial year in the prescribed format issued by not below the rank of Tahsildar
  • Certificate issued by the Director/Principal/Head of the Institute.
  • Tuition fee receipt.
  • AADHAR seeded Bank Pass Book in the name of the student indicating Account number, IFSC code and photograph
  • AADHAR Card
  • Declaration by parents duly signed stating that the information provided about their child is correct and that they will refund the scholarship amount, if found false at any stage
