Pragati Scholarship Scheme for Girl Students (Technical Degree)

Introduction

The ‘National Scheme of Incentive of Girls’ scholarship will be awarded for all the girl students studying in Class VIII to Class X in Government, Private institutions and residential schools that are recognised by Central Government, State Government and Union Territory Administration.

Funding

The ‘National Scheme of Incentive of Girls’ scholarship is 100% funded by the Department of School Education Central Government, State Government and Union Territory Administration. The amount of incentive released will be deposited in the favour of the eligible girls.  

Availability

 Every year a total of 30 Lakh scholarships are targeted to be distributed as both ‘Fresh’ scholarships, and renewal of scholarships.

Eligibility

The Scheme will cover

  • All SC/ST girls who pass Class VIII
  • Girls who pass Class VIII examination from Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya’s (irrespective of whether they belong to Scheduled Castes or Tribes) and enrol for Class IX in State/UT Government, Government-aided or local body schools

Benefits

  • A sum of Rs 3000 would be deposited under term deposit/fixed deposit in a public sector bank or in a post office in the name of every eligible girl child.
  • The term/ period of the deposit may be counted from the date of deposit to date on which the girl child attains the age of 18 years.
  • No premature withdrawal will be allowed.

Mode of Application 

  • Every implementing school may complete the exercise of identification of  eligible girl child and preparation of proposal within 1 month of the commencement of the academic year.
  • The State/ UT Governments will prepare the consolidated proposal and send to the department of school Education and Literacy, Ministry of HRD, New Delhi within 3 months of the commencement of the academic year

Documents Required

  • The marksheet of marks secured in the previous academic year’s final exam
  • Annual family Income Certificate for the preceding financial year in the prescribed format issued by not below the rank of Tahsildar
  • Certificate issued by the Director/Principal/Head of the Institute.
  • Tuition fee receipt.
  • AADHAR seeded Bank Pass Book in the name of the student indicating Account number, IFSC code and photograph
  • AADHAR Card
  • Declaration by parents duly signed stating that the information provided about their child is correct and that they will refund the scholarship amount, if found false at any stage
