Introduction

The ‘Saksham’ scholarship scheme is provided by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) Government of India to encourage technical education in the specially abled students who are taking admission to the technical degree courses in AICTE approved institutes and universities across the country. The ‘Saksham Scholarship Scheme’ is implemented by AICTE on behalf of MHRD. This is an attempt to give every young student, who is otherwise specially-abled an opportunity to study further and prepare for a successful future through technical education/ knowledge.

 Funding

The ‘Saksham Scholarship Scheme’ is 100% funded by the MHRD and AICTE provides the funds on behalf of the MHRD.

Availability

The ‘Saksham Scholarship Scheme’ is available for all the specially abled students who are taking admissions to the technical degree course at all the AICTE approved institutes and universities across the country.

Eligibility

  • The candidate should be admitted to the first year of Degree level course or second year of Degree level course through Lateral Entry in any of the AICTE approved Institution of respective year.
  • Specially-abled students having a disability of not less than 40%.
  • Family income from all sources should not be more than Rs. 8 LPA during the current financial year.
  • A valid income certificate issued by the State /UT Government needs to be enclosed. Duration

The ‘Saksham Scholarship Scheme’ shall be provided for the entire course of the academic year. The scholarship will be renewed for the next year of study on receipt of renewal through the National Scholarship Portal by submitting a passing certificate/ mark sheet along with a letter from the Head of the Institution on the online portal.

Benefits

  • Rs. 50,000/year for every year of study i.e. maximum 4 years for first year admitted students and maximum 3 years for second year admitted students through Lateral Entry as lump sum amount towards payment of college fee, purchase of computer, stationery, books, equipment, software etc.
  • No other additional grant will be payable for hostel charges and medical charges etc.

 Mode of Application

The eligible students are required to apply online on National Scholarship Portal (NSP) after initiation of application process and notice to be published on AICTE website.

Documents Required

  • Mark Sheet of Class X/XII/equivalent as applicable.
  • Annual family Income Certificate for the preceding financial year in the prescribed format issued by not below the rank of Tahsildar.
  • Admission Letter issued by Directorate of Technical Education for the admission in Diploma/Degree course.
  • Certificate issued by the Director/Principal/Head of the Institute.
  • Tuition fee receipt.
  • AADHAR seeded Bank Pass Book in the name of the student indicating Account number, IFSC code and photograph
  • Doctor Certificate defining the physical disability
  • AADHAR Card
  • Declaration by parents duly signed stating that the information provided about their child is correct and that they will refund the scholarship amount, if found false at any stage.
