C N Ashwath Narayan, Karnataka's Minister of Higher Education, asked Edinburgh University to establish a campus here on Friday. During his visit to the 450-year-old university in Scotland, the Minister interacted with top university officials and put forth the offer, according to a statement from the Minister's office.

Officials from Edinburgh University replied positively to the suggestion, according to the release, and Narayan invited them to the Bengaluru Tech Summit (BTS-22) silver jubilee event in November.``The National Education Policy (NEP 2020) which is being implemented in Karnataka, paves way for internationalisation of education. In addition, Edinburgh University is renowned for its multi-disciplinary education, which is also the core of NEP. These factors favour Edinburgh University to set up its campus in Bengaluru," he stated.

In addition to debating the adoption of 'Twinning Courses,' the Minister held discussions on cooperation in higher education. He saw the robotic lab, data science, and AI centres situated at the Bayes Facility, which is an incubation and a unique concept of a multi-disciplinary education centre on the Edinburgh University campus. The Minister also reviewed the possibility of collaborating with VTU Belagavi in the fields of artificial intelligence, mechatronics, and cyber security.
