OCI students can attend for NEET-UG 2021 counselling under General Category

The Supreme Court passed an interim order allowing Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) students to participate in the NEET-UG counselling under the general (GM) category for the academic year 2021-22. The Hon’ble Supreme Court passed the interim order on Thursday 30-Sep-2021 for the writ petition filed by OCI candidates challenging a notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs to treat them at par with Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) for the purpose of college admissions.

The Hon’ble Supreme Court directed the National Testing Agency (NTA) to declare the results of OCI students and permit them to appear for counselling in general (GM) category. The Hon’ble Supreme Court clarified that the order is confined only to the academic year 2021-22.

The OCI students will now be able to attend NEET-UG counselling for all open category medical seats for the academic year 2021-22 at par with Indian citizens.
