NEET UG 2023 witnessed remarkable participation with over 2 million candidates appearing for the exam. The results are out, and Prabhanjan J and Bora Varun Chakravarthi secured the top positions. The exam was conducted in multiple languages, and category-wise breakdown reveals significant growth and diverse representation.

Mr Prabhanjan J of Tamil Nadu and Mr Bora Varun Chakravarthi of Andhra Pradesh secured the first position in NEET UG 2023 with a perfect score of 720 out of 720 marks. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has set the cut-off marks at 137 for general category candidates and 107 for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates, out of a total of 720 marks. A total of 1,145,976 candidates have met the basic eligibility criteria. The results are now available on the official website www.nta.ac.in or https://neet.nta.nic.in/ since June 13th.

The results of NEET (UG) - 2023 hold significant importance and can be used by different central and state government entities based on their specific eligibility criteria, regulations, guidelines, and rules. Furthermore, the result data will play a crucial role in the admission process for B.Sc. (H) Nursing courses and BVSc & AH courses under the 15% quota of VCI in recognized Veterinary Colleges.

Massive Participation: NEET (UG) - 2023 Exam

A whopping 2,038,596 candidates appeared for the NEET (UG) - 2023 examination at 4,097 different centres located in 499 cities across India, including 14 cities outside the country, on 7th May 2023. Moreover, the examination was conducted in the state of Manipur for 8,753 candidates at 34 centres in 11 cities, as per the request of the State Government of Manipur, on 6th June 2023. It was also conducted in 10 different cities, including Aizawl, Kohima, Dimapur, Shillong, Guwahati, Jorhat, Silchar, Kolkata, Delhi, and Bengaluru.

Vernacular Benefits

To cater to diverse linguistic preferences, the examination was held in 13 languages, namely Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. More than 16 lakh candidates appeared for the examination in English, while 2.76 lakh candidates appeared in Hindi. The number of candidates appearing in other vernacular languages was comparatively fewer. Additionally, international candidates had the opportunity to take the examination in various cities abroad, including Abu Dhabi, Bangkok, Colombo, Doha, Kathmandu, Kuala Lumpur, Lagos, Manama, Muscat, Riyadh, Sharjah, Singapore, Dubai, and Kuwait City.

Category-wise Breakdown

NTA has been conducting NEET UG since 2019, and there has been a rapid growth of 25% in the number of candidates within four years. The number of girls appearing for NEET UG has increased from 8.3 lakhs to 11.84 lakhs, with 6.55 lakhs qualifying for the exam. Among the qualified candidates, 525,194 belong to the OBC category, 153,674 to the SC category, 56,381 to the ST category, 312,405 to the General category, and 98,322 to the EWS category. Additionally, 521 foreigners have also met the eligibility criteria. Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan have a high volume of qualified candidates, each with more than 1 lakh, whereas Karnataka has 75,248 qualified candidates.
