The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) on Thursday initiated the option of changing nationality for candidates who are appearing for the upcoming NEET UG - 2022 Counselling. Medical aspirants who wish to do so can check all the details on the official NEET website - mcc.nic.in.

NEET UG Counselling 2022: How to change Nationality?

The Hon’ble Supreme Court of India has given relief news to all the candidates who wanted to claim NRI quota.The candidates should send their relevant documents as mentioned below, in support of their claim to change nationality from Indian to NRI from 10:00 AM of 7th October, 2022, (Friday) till 10:00 A.M of 11th October, 2022 (Tuesday). 

Guide on How to do it?

STEP 1: Visit the official NEET website — mcc.nic.in.

STEP 2: Click on the ‘UG medical counselling’ tab and then read the notice carefully.

STEP 3: Open your registered email id and attach all the relevant documents required to support your claims.

STEP 4: In the mail body, mention your application number, full name and contact information.

STEP 5: Send the mail to ug.nri.mcc@gmail.com.

The following conditions are required to be met by the candidates applying for change of their category (Indian to NRI):-

As per the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in the case (W.P. (C) No.689/2017- Consortium of Deemed universities in Karnataka (CODEUNIK) & Anr. Vs. Union Of India & Ors.) dated 22-08-2017 and principles set out in Anshul Tomar (supra) case. The Candidates applying for conversion are required to furnish the documents in the format provided at Annexure I.

ANNEXURE-I 

  1. I, , S/D of _, Roll No: _ _, Application No: _ am applying for conversion of Category from Indian to NRI for the NEET-UG Counselling, 2022. 
  2. I have cleared NEET-UG Examination, 2022 and I am eligible for the Counselling. 
  3. I am well aware of the fact that once my category is converted from Indian to NRI in any of the Rounds of Counselling for NEET-UG, 2022, I will be treated as NRI for the remaining rounds as well. 
  4. Also, I know that if my category is converted from Indian to NRI, I will not be able to avail the benefit under Muslim Minority quota/Jain Minority Quota or any other Quota. 

Below are the list of documents which have to be attached through e-mail while submitting for the change from Indian to NRI.

  • Documents claiming that the sponsorer is an NRI (Passport, Visa of the sponsorer). 
  • Relationship of NRI with the candidate as per the court orders of The Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in case W.P.(c) No. 689/2017- Consortium of Deemed Universities in Karnataka (CODEUNIK) & Ans. Vs Union of India & Ors. dated 22-08- 2017. 
  • Affidavit from the sponsorer that he/ she will sponsor the entire course fee of the candidate duly notarized.
  • Embassy Certificate of the Sponsorer (Certificate from the Consulate). 
  •  NEET Score Card of the candidate.  

NOTE: 

  1. Candidates should ensure that all the relevant documents and information are attached and sent in one single mail and not multiple mails or mail trail. 
  2. Mails received before/ after the stipulated time will not be considered.
