The Karnataka government plans to build engineering colleges in every district under the project named ‘Super 30’. Sources from the government stated that under the project “Super 30” the government will build engineering colleges in each district in Karnataka. The official sources further stated that the programme would primarily concentrate on faculty training, industry collaborations, setting up of laboratories, foreign collaborations through these engineering colleges.
The official sources further stated that the focus is to run the government colleges under this project; the committee would be taking private engineering colleges on board depending on their potential for development, in districts without a government college.
The official reports stated that the plan of Super 30 was introduced to reduce the struggle faced by rural students for travelling to cities for quality education. The project was taken to stop the migration of students from villages for quality education.
The official reports further stated that a committee headed by Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) has been formed that also comprises academicians, industry leaders and other officials, to look into the plan to develop colleges to excel in the areas of research, industry and teaching.
The reports further stated that a centralised facilitation centre is also under discussion, which will create a platform to bring industries together for providing internships, placements, training for faculty and curriculum development in sync with industry demands.
