The Karnataka government has announced that there will be no syllabus reduced in the academic curriculum of 2021 in the schools. The Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Mr. B.C. Nagesh said that the government has no intention to cut the syllabus for this current academic year as offline classes have already begun for the classes of 9th to 12th in some parts of the state with 50% occupancy of the students according to Covid 19 SOPs . The minister stated that all the schools will be instructed to complete the syllabus within the specified time. He also stated that there can be holiday cuts if the syllabus is not completed on time.

Due to the pandemic and Covid 19 restrictions last year, the government had announced a scale down in the syllabus for all the classes and students had a sigh of relief by this decision. But the latest decision by the government has been a shock for all the students and many schools especially in rural areas have expressed discontent for the latest decision. The lack of infrastructure is affecting the students especially in rural schools, so they have requested to roll back the decision for this academic year. The government has confirmed that there will be no reduction in syllabus from this academic year. Further, the government also ensured that suitable actions will be taken to improve the facilities in the rural areas at the earliest.
