Indian Nursing Council issues notice against Sociology textbook containing ‘merits of dowry system'

The Indian Nursing Council, on Monday, issued a notice regarding the publication of “Merits of Dowry System” in the “Sociology for Nurses” book mentioned in the Nursing Curriculum. The decision was taken when the viral image of a textbook, listing the "merits and advantages" of the dowry system was circulating across all the social media platforms. 

The book 'Sociology for Nurses' is authored by T K Indrani and it is one of the reading materials for nursing students, and the cover of the book states that it is written as per the Indian Nursing Council syllabus. The Indian Nursing Council has issued notice against the topic of “Merits of Dowry System '' in the textbook of “Sociology for Nurses”. 

The Indian Nursing Council authorities have further mentioned that severe action will be taken against the matter and it is also looking towards legal actions.
