  • Union HRD Minister Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank went live on Facebook on Wednesday to interact with heads of various Higher Education Institutes of the country. 
  • In the webinar, attended by over 1000 heads, teachers, chancellors, etc. of various universities, HRD Minister spoke on the vision of PM Narendra Modi and how empowering the education sector was the key to building a $5 Trillion economy. He also answered questions related to universities exams.
  • Addressing the question of pending university exams, HRD Minister confirmed that the examinations for final semester students would be conducted. If the condition does not improve by July then the new dates will be released soon.
  • Moreover, the Universities will declare the result of first and second year’s students on the basis of their previous exam and the internal assessment of this year. The University will consider the average of 50% marks of their previous exam + 50% marks in the internal assessment of this semester.
  • This arrangement will be effective only for those areas where conducting the examination would be difficult considering the safety of the students.
  • Around 470000 have downloaded the app for JEE Main and NEET practice during this lockdown period. Students are also downloading Aarogya Setu App. However, the Government is now focusing on online education.
  • We have managed to bring our education to the internet and on broadcast channels (Swayam Prabha). Crores of Students have used Diksha and ePathshala. Swayam is now the largest platform in the world of its kind.
