The Hon'ble Karnataka High Court Bench in Dharwad headed by Justice SG Pandit directed the Karnataka State Law University (KSLU) to determine the mode for 2nd and 4th semester examinations for the three-years LLB course.

The Hon'ble High Court further ordered that the KSLU has to decide the mode (i.e. online/offline/blended/online open book exam/assignment-based evaluation/research papers) in 10 days and should complete all the formalities and submit to the court.

On December 14, 2021, a single bench of Hon'ble High Court of Karnataka Dharwad Division Bench had cited the earlier interim orders of the court and directed KSLU to promote the students in terms of the order passed in February 2021, during the first wave.

The KSLU had challenged this order, contending that the Covid situation was quite different when those earlier orders were passed. The High Court of Karnataka Division Bench set aside the single bench order and further ordered the university and academicians to decide about the curriculum and mode of exam.

The bench further said that it is best to leave the decision to the university for deciding for the mode of exam. The High Court Division further noted that the university has to take the call on the exam based on the availability of the material and syllabus completion status of all the colleges under the university.
