  • After over five months, degree and professional colleges in Karnataka are set to reopen on 01/10/20, though the government will wait for the Centre’s guidelines before taking a decision.
  • “The 2020-21 academic year for degree colleges will commence on 01/09/20 with online classes. On 01/10/20, we plan to reopen the doors of colleges for classes,’’ deputy CM CN Ashwath Narayan said on Wednesday.
  • Universities will follow a 6-Days week, social distancing will be followed in the classes, says UGC Panel.
  • Virtual Classes and Video Conferencing facilities should be accessible at all times.
  • All Course content to be uploaded in digital form.
  • Say “NO” for reopening the schools in Karnataka. School Education Minister Suresh Kumar says State Government will wait for and plan on basis of Centre’s guidelines.
  • Ashwath Narayan, who holds the higher education portfolio, said the state has made comprehensive preparations for starting classes as per the guidelines issued by the University Grants Commission, but will wait for the Centre’s roadmap in this regard. “The state government will follow additional directions from the central government to ensure safety of students,’’ he added.
  • The government will soon schedule examinations for final-year undergraduate, diploma and engineering students. “Once the academic year begins, final-year exams, along with backlog exams, will be conducted,” Narayan said.
