The AICTE will introduce and decide the minimum fee structure for all the B.Tech and MBA courses in all the self-financing colleges across the country. The decision was taken based on reports from Justice B.N Sreekrishna commission report.
The AICTE till now was fixing only the maximum fees structure for courses in Technical and management education colleges from 2015. Now according to the latest recommendations from Justice Srikrishna Commission report, the AICTE will be empowered to decide the minimum fee structure also for all the courses of B.Tech & MBA across all the self-financing colleges in India.
According to the latest reports the fee for B.Tech courses was Rs. 1.44-1.58 lakhs approximate. For other courses like MBA, MCA, Hotel Management courses etc the fee structure was similar, but the fees were different in some states as they decided to fix their own fees every year.
To discourage this, many colleges from different states approached the Union Ministry of Higher Education Government of India demanding a common fee structure for all the colleges across the country. The government appointed Justice Srikrishna Committee for fee recommendations.
After the Sreekrishna Committee submitted its report, the government has empowered AICTE to decide minimum fee structure also along with maximum fee structure for the courses of B.Tech and MBA across all the self-financing colleges of the country.
According to latest reports the AICTE has fixed Rs 70,000 to Rs 75,000 as minimum annual fees for all the courses for B. Tech. While the AICTE has yet to decide on the minimum fee structure for the MBA courses and discussions are in progress.
According to the official sources, the new fee structure from AICTE will be applicable from next academic year 2023-24.
