MS General Surgery (Master of Surgery in General Surgery)
MBBS students after completing their Master of Surgery or MS course are referred as General Surgeons. General Surgeons employ a wide range of knowledge and skills to perform critical surgeries in an emergency situation. Master of Surgery is basically related to study of surgical aspects and surgical techniques of a medical condition. Placement of MS Surgery
The General Surgeons play an important role in hospitals and nursing homes. They are required to be available in all the emergency situations and conduct emergency surgeries. The General Surgeons sometimes may also be required to perform trauma surgery in case of major accidents. As a General Surgeon he/she requires to have a close collaboration with other specialist colleagues and a holistic approach to treatment. In the initial days of their career they will be working closely with the team of expert surgeons. As they gain experience, they may soon lead a team of specialist surgeons as a ‘Lead Surgeon’ in hospitals and nursing homes.
If they are interested in teaching then they can join medical colleges as assistant professors and take up classes and lectures in general surgery and its related topics. They may even become head of the surgery department or sometimes they may be appointed as Deans, Chairman, or Vice-Presidents in medical colleges.
