Animation is a process of designing, drawing, making layouts and preparation of photographic sequences which are integrated in multimedia and gaming products. Animation is the process that involves the exploitation and management of still images to generate the illusion of movement. The role of an animator is to use his/her creativity and talent to generate rich animation content that is interesting and engaging.

Animator
Roles of the Animator
- An animator produces multiple images called frames and is responsible to develop a sequence to create an illusion of movement
- The animator is responsible to draw and design pictures, models, characters for creating a meaningful story or a sequence
- The animators use computer generated images to create motion pictures and also responsible to give special effects to the sequence
Responsibilities of the Animator
As an animator one is responsible to:
- Liaise with clients and develop animation according to their needs using creativity
- Create storyboards that depict script and are narrative
- Draw 2D and 3D sketches, artwork and illustrations
- Create props using various techniques like clay modelling, lego modelling, plaster, oil paints, water colours acrylics, etc
- Develop the timing and pace of movements of the character or object during the sequence of images and ensure to follow the soundtrack and audio requirements
- Using sophisticated software packages like flash, 3D max, Maya, LightWave, Cinema 4D, Adobe Photoshop, etc to develop animations
- Build accurate and frame by frame visuals
- Record dialogues and work with editors to composite the various layers
- Work within the deadlines and meet the clients to understand their requirements
