Animal Nutritionists

The Animal nutritionists are responsible to use their scientific knowledge to advise on the effect of diet on animal health and wellbeing. They are responsible to take care of the nutrition aspects of the animals and ensure that proper and nutritional food is given to them.

Role of an Animal Nutritionists

As an animal nutritionist one should be involved in the promotion of better understanding of the effect of diet on the health, wellbeing and productivity of animals. As an animal nutritionist one is responsible to provide advice and information on animal nutrition and design that evaluate the diets of the animals in question.

Responsibilities of an Animal Nutritionist

As an animal nutritionist one is needed to:

  • Evaluate the chemical and nutritional value of foods, feed supplements, grass, fodder and forage for commercial animals and pets
  • Formulate diets and rations to maximise growth, reproduction, health and performance
  • Assess the relative nutritional and economic value of feeding systems

  • The fresh M.Sc Zoology post graduates will be earning nearly around 3 lakhs to 5 lakhs per annum as an Animal Nutritionists
  • The experienced professionals will be earning around 6 lakhs to 8 lakhs per annum

Zookeeper

Zookeepers are concerned with the welfare of animals kept in zoos, wildlife parks, aquariums, animal reserves, etc. They are responsible to take care of the health of the animals in captivity by showing them love and affection.

Role of a Zookeeper

As a zookeeper one is expected to work with different animals in the zoos. As a zookeeper one is responsible to understand the animals by giving them care and love and help them to thrive within the captivity.

Responsibilities of a Zookeeper

As a Zookeeper one is responsible to:

  • Keep animal enclosures clean, germ free and safety secured
  • Prepare food such as pellets, fresh produce, meat or hay and administer medications
  • Observe animals and check for any signs of distress or ill health
  • Design, build and repair environments which are as close to natural habitats as possible
  • Come up with creative ideas for enrichment to keep animals active and interested as possible
  • Educate the visitors by sharing the animal knowledge through demonstrations with live animals, talks, tours and visitor experiences
  • Assist with breeding procedures and raising young animals, particularly with endangered species
  • Train animal behaviour to make feeding, medicating and monitoring easy and safe

Salary & Emoluments

  • The fresh M.Sc Zoology students will be earning around 4 lakhs to 6 lakhs per annum as Zookeepers
  • The experienced professionals will be earning around 5 lakhs to 7 lakhs per annum

Zoologist

As a Zoologist one is responsible to work both indoors in labs and also fields in the outdoors. As a Zoologist one is responsible to study the behaviour of the animals and try to bring down the gap between animals and humans and achieve a sustainable living on this planet.

Role of a Zoologist

As a Zoologist one is responsible to study animal behaviour including evolution, anatomy, physiology, behaviour, distribution and classification of animals. The zoologists study species and population of animals and work with animals out in the field in captivity or in laboratories.

Responsibilities of a Zoologist

As a Zoologist one is needed to:

  • Study the animals in captivity or in their natural habitat
  • Conduct laboratory and field research
  • Collect, store and prepare specimens for analysis
  • Identify, record and monitor species of animals
  • Manage large data sets and use statistical software packages
  • Use modelling software to predict future scenarios such as changes in habitats on population numbers
  • Write scientific reports and issue recommendations
  • Manage animal care and address invasive species and other threats
  • Use software equipment such as geographical information systems (GIS) global positioning systems (GPS), sonographs, terrestrial locomotor activity monitoring systems and video recorders

  • The fresh M.Sc Zoology students will be earning around 5 lakhs to 7 lakhs per annum as zoologists
  • The experienced professionals will be earning around 6 lakhs to 9 lakhs per annum

Animal Physiotherapist

As an Animal Physiotherapist one is responsible to provide physiotherapy treatment for animals and help them to recover from their ailments. They basically help the animals to overcome their physical problems that occurred due to an injury or due caused by birth, by giving them proper physiotherapy treatments.

Role of an Animal Physiotherapist

The main purpose of animal physiotherapists is to restore and maintain mobility, function, independence and performance. The Animal Physiotherapy is now considered as an essential addition to medical and surgical treatment of animals and it is applied for several treatments.

Responsibilities of an Animal Physiotherapist

As an animal therapist one is needed to:

  • Treat a range of complaints, including spinal problems, joint problems and injuries to muscles, ligaments and tendons
  • Facilitate post-surgical rehabilitation
  • Device exercise regimes for a range of conditions, from neurological conditions to obesity to preventive physiotherapy
  • Provide advice on adapting an animal’s living environment
  • Administer patient records
