As a Clinical Manager one is required to handle both administration and clinical aspects in the hospital. They are responsible to handle both duties judicially and ensure the smooth-running process in the hospital.

Responsibilities of a Clinical Manager

As a clinical manager one is responsible to:

  • Manage staff members in clerical, administrative and clinical areas
  • Manage staff recruitment, development and training
  • Supervise daily activities in the hospitals and clinics
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures and work standards
  • Formulate, monitor and enforce budgets for various procurements and make purchasing decisions
  • Hold meetings and communicate with staff
  • Ensure that entire medical operation at the hospital or a clinic is running as smoothly as possible

Hospital Administration Manager

As a hospital administration manager, one is required to manage all the medical activities in the hospitals and ensure a smooth functioning of the hospital.

Role of the Hospital Administration Manager

As an hospital administration manager, one is required to manage both medical and administrative staff in the hospitals. They are required to ensure that all the processes between the medical staff and the administrative staff work in tandem in hospitals.

Responsibilities of a Hospital Administration Manager

As a hospital administration manager, one is needed to:

  • Supervise the daily administrative operations in hospitals
  • Monitor expenses and suggest cost-effective alternatives to hospital management
  • Write quarterly and annual budget reports
  • Develop and implement effective policies for all the operational procedures
  • Prepare work schedules for all the staffs
  • Maintain organised medical and employment records
  • Monitor the administrative staff’s performance and advice for improvisations
  • Hire and train new employees for hospital management

Human Resource Manager

The human resource manager should be self-motivated and should enjoy helping others to develop their interpersonal skills in an hospital environment.

Role of the Human Resource Manager

As a human resource manager, one is required to develop, advise and implement policies relating to the effective use of staff in the hospital.

Responsibilities of a human Resource Manager

As a human resource manager, one is needed to:

  • Work closely with various health departments, increasingly in a consultancy role, assisting the health managers to understand and implement policies and procedures
  • Promote equality and diversity as a part of culture in the hospitals
  • Coordinate with a range of people involved in policy areas such as staff performance and health and safety
  • Recruiting staff which involves developing job descriptions and person specifications, preparing job adverts, checking application forms, shortlisting, interviewing and selecting candidates
  • Develop and implement policies on issues like patient treatments, working conditions, performance management, equal opportunities disciplinary procedures and absence management
  • Advising on pay and remuneration issues, including promotion and benefits
  • Negotiating with staff and their representatives in the hospitals
  • Administering pay rolls and maintaining employee records
  • Interpreting and advising on employment law
  • Dealing with grievances and implementing disciplinary action
  • Analysing training needs in conjunction with departmental managers
  • Be updated with latest policies and knowledge about the human resource management
