What is M.Sc Perfusion technology?
Perfusion technology is the branch of the allied health sciences that involves the study of the heart and heart-related machinery. The M.Sc Perfusion Technology trains the students on the various aspects that are involved in heart surgery such as cardiology, cardiac surgery, advanced operation theatre techniques, perfusion technology, cardiovascular drugs, CPB machines, organ transplantation etc.
The perfusion technologists will also be studying the equipment that provides support to the proper functioning of the heart and lungs. The perfusion technologists will be also be studying in-depth about the equipment that is used to support the human heart and keep the human circulatory system functioning during the major heart surgeries.
The M.Sc. Perfusion Technology students will be performing multiple tasks like the generation of the real-time reports of the functioning of the heart and lungs of the patients during major surgeries. They also measure the blood pressure and also keep an eye on many vital organs that are crucial for the life of the patients during the surgeries. They also record regular readings of the patients in the critical cardiac care units (CCU) and intensive care units(ICU) and make them available to the physicians.
The M.Sc. Perfusion Technology students will be studying in detail about the respiratory and circulatory systems of the human body. They are given the training to work on various critical equipments that are necessary for the functioning of the human heart.
Why choose M.Sc. Perfusion Technology?
The B.Sc. Perfusion Technology students who are interested to take up higher studies can join the M.Sc Perfusion Technology course. The master’s programme gives a detailed understanding of perfusion technology as a subject. The M.Sc perfusion technology students can join as assistants to the team of doctors that expertise in performing heart surgeries in the hospitals. The main job of the perfusion technologists is to provide extracorporeal support to the patients those undergoing major heart surgeries using external equipment.
