Introduction to Computer Science
Computer Science is a branch of science that deals with the study of processes that interact with data and that can be represented as data in the form of a programme. It enables the use of algorithms to manipulate, store and communicate digital information. Computer science mainly deals with the study and working of various devices that run by software such as computers, mobiles, automated machines etc.
What is M.Sc Computer Science?
M.Sc Computer Science is a 2-year programme that caters to the needs of students who are interested in the field of computers and information technology. The M.Sc Computer Science course is divided into 4 semesters. The main aim of the course is to train the students with core concepts of computer technologies and make them competent to become successful IT professionals. The main objective of M.Sc Computer Science course is to hone the skills of computer science enthusiasts in the various thrust areas of the field and provide them with perfect amalgamation of theory as well as practical knowledge in computer science.
Eligibility for M.Sc Computer Science
- Students should have studied PUC or 10+2 with any three of the following subjects: physics, chemistry, mathematics, computer science, electronics, statistics as core subjects from recognised board
- Students should have completed their graduation in B.Sc/ B.Sc (H) Computer Science or B.Sc Applied Physical Sciences with Mathematics and Computer Science from recognised university
- Students who have completed their B.Tech or BE with Computer Science/Information Science/Information Technology etc are also eligible to apply for M.Sc Computer Science
Admission Process
The students who have completed their bachelor’s degree in relevant specialisations can take admission to M.Sc Computer Science via two modes of admission. (1) Merit Admissions (2) Direct Admissions.
Let’s discuss in detail
1. Merit Admissions
The students with relevant degrees can apply for merit seats by undergoing the merit admission process. There are some top-ranking colleges and universities that conduct entrance exams for M.Sc Computer Science courses. To get admission to merit seats the students have to mandatorily clear the entrance exams (if any). The entrance exams are conducted to select the top deserving candidates from the non-deserving candidates. The students are selected on the basis of entrance exam scores and graduation marks for merit seats. The fees for merit seats is reasonable.
