Introduction to Master of Hospital Administration (MHA)
Master of Hospital Administration (MHA) is a 2-year post graduate course that is divided into 4- semesters. The main objective of an MHA course is to prepare the students for higher level careers in health systems such as hospitals, top health consulting firms with specialised skills and unique knowledge to achieve success in today’s healthcare environment. The course trains the students on various aspects of management and helps them to understand how the management skills are applied to healthcare setups to increase productivity.
Eligibility for Master of Hospital Administration
The students who have completed their MBBS, BDS or B.Sc Nursing with 50% aggregate marks from the recognised university are eligible to apply for MHA course.
Admission Procedures
The eligible students can take admission to MHA by two modes of admission. The first one is merit-based admission and second one is direct admission.
1. Merit Based Admission
There are many reputed colleges that conduct entrance exams for MHA course, such mode of admission is called merit-based admission. Each college will have a limited number of merit seats, the students are selected based on their marks and rankings in entrance exams for these seats. The qualified students are allotted merit seats and given admissions. The main motto for institution-based entrance exams is to select the serious candidates from non-serious ones. The fees are also nominal in merit-based admission.
2. Direct Admission
The second mode of admission is direct admission, under this mode the students are given admission to their desired colleges directly under management quota. The advantage of this mode of admission is that the students are not required to appear for any institution-based entrance exams for admissions. The second advantage is that the students can take admission to their desired colleges by booking their seats in advance even before the college starts.
