Architecture is the design of buildings, groups of buildings and often the space between the buildings. But the scope of architecture goes well beyond just the drawing board. Architecture takes the imagination and the ability to order ideas and communicate them clearly, creatively, a keen interest in human behaviour, the habitat and the natural environment and problem- solving skills.
Few lines about M.Arch Course
M.Arch is a 2-years post graduate programme that is divided into 4-semesters. The course prepares the students in basic planning and its applications in daily life. The course explores on an advanced level, the goals of sustained development, planning and urban and rural, physical and social dimensions. The course essentially involves concepts of planning architecture and design fundamentals. It incorporates elements of both rural and urban infrastructure, imparted through professional oriented curriculum.
There are various specialisations under this domain like Landscape Architecture, Green Architecture, Naval Architecture and many more.
Eligibility for M.Arch Course
The B.Arch students who have scored 50% aggregate in their degree from recognised university are eligible to apply for M.Arch programme.
Admission Procedures
The students with relevant qualifications can join the M.Arch course by two modes. The first one is Merit based admission and the second one is Direct admission.

Merit Admission
The students who are interested to join M.Arch degree should mandatorily appear for NATA/PGCET/JEE Main Paper 2 or institutional-based entrance exams and undergo counselling to choose their desired colleges for merit seats. The architecture college allots the merit seats to the students according to their rankings and marks obtained by them in their entrance exams and marks scored in B.Arch course
There are two types of counselling for the M.Arch students
1. Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) Counselling
The students who are interested to join the government architecture colleges and other architectural colleges affiliated to the government should undergo the counselling procedures of Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA).
The students who intend to join for the merit seats under government quota are required to complete the NATA/PGCET/JEE Main Paper 2 counselling procedures and join for the M.Arch programme in their chosen colleges. The architectural colleges under the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) are affiliated to the Visveswaraya Technological University (VTU).
