A few lines about Civil Engineering
Civil Engineering is one of the broadest and oldest of the engineering disciplines, extending across many technical specialities. The Civil Engineers plan, design and supervise the construction of facilities essential to modern life like residences, skyscrapers, offshore structures, bridges, buildings, tunnels, highways, transit systems, dams, airports, harbours, water supply system and wastewater treatment plants.
A civil engineer is responsible for planning and designing a project, constructing the project to the required scale and maintenance of the project. A civil engineer requires not only a high standard of engineering knowledge but also supervisory and management skills.
Civil engineers are employed in all the major construction projects carried out by the state or central government like the public works departments (PWD), the railways and military. Civil Engineers are mostly required in private construction and real estate companies as project engineers.
Introduction to B.Tech/BE Civil Engineering (Construction and Management)
B.Tech/BE Civil Engineering (Construction & Management) course is a 4-years undergraduate course that is divided into 8-semesters. The course aims at providing specialisation in civil engineering. The course gives training to develop knowledge and expertise in the field of construction, helping add value to construction projects with a focus on risk management.
The course trains the students in a specialised field of construction of special structures towards accomplishing critical projects within a given schedule and budget. The students also gain information about construction management techniques during the course.
Eligibility for B.Tech/BE Civil Engineering (Construction and Management)
The students who have completed their PUC or 10+2 with science background can join the B.Tech/BE Civil Engineering (construction and management) course. The students interested in this course are required to qualify the competitive exams like CET/COMED-K/JEE with high scores and rankings in order to get merit seats in various colleges.
Admission Procedures
The students with relevant qualifications can join the B.Tech/BE Civil Engineering (Construction & Management) course by two modes. The first one is Merit based admission and the second one is Direct admission.
Let’s discuss in detail
Merit Admission
The students who are interested to join B.Tech/BE Civil Engineering (Construction & Management) degree should mandatorily appear for CET/COMED-K/JEE or institutional-based entrance exams and undergo counselling to choose their desired colleges for merit seats. The engineering college allotts the merit seats to the students according to their rankings and marks obtained by them in their entrance exams and marks scored in PUC or 10+2.
