Direct Admission procedures
The Sri Siddhartha Medical College or SSMC was established in 1988 by the Sri Siddhartha Educational Society. The SSMC is affiliated to the Sri Siddhartha University situated in Tumkur in Bangalore. Each course given in the college is approved by the Medical Council of India. Those students who aspire to become doctors and want to study the undergraduate courses at SSMC must fulfil the eligibility criteria, which are as follows
- The student must have passed the 2 year PUC examinations which is conducted by PU Karnataka Board or any other equivalent examination recognized by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, with the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with at least 50% aggregate marks (40% for SC/ST/OBC candidates).
- The student must be 17 years of age as of the 31st of December on the year of admission.
- The student must have cleared the BSc examination with physics, chemistry, and Biology at an Indian University with at least 50% aggregate marks.
- There is also a provision for admission through the management quota where the students can easily get into the college by giving a certain amount of money which is usually decided by the college administration. The management quota makes it easier for those candidates who fall short of the eligibility criteria through a small margin.
