Introduction
The ‘Prime Minister's Scholarship Scheme (PMSS)’ under the Railways Development Fund, was introduced from the academic year 2008 - 09 to encourage higher technical and professional education for the dependent ward and widows and their children Ex/serving/Deceased RPF/RPSF personnel
Funding
The ‘Prime Minister's Scholarship Scheme (PMSS)’ is 100% funded the Ministry of Railways, Government of India
Availability
Nearly, a total of 150 scholarships (equally for both girls and boys) will be given for each academic year in addition to renewal cases of previous years.
Eligibility
- The children, wards and widows of deceased railways personnel died
- The children are pursuing their first professional degree programme in the field of Engineering, Medical, Dental, Veterinary, BBA, BCA, B. Pharma, B.Sc (Nursing, Agriculture, etc.), MBA and MCA etc.
- The students have a minimum 60% marks in Minimum Entry Qualification (MEQ) i.e., 10+2/ Diploma/Graduation or Equivalent in case of new applicants.
Duration
The scholarship is provided to the entire course duration
Benefits
- A scholarship amount of Rs 2250/month for girls and 2000/month for boys is provided
Mode of Application
The scheme is implemented through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). It is mandatory for all students to apply online on the website i.e. www.scholarships.gov.in.
Documents Required
- The mark sheet that shows 60% of marks secured in the Class X
- Certificate issued by the Director/Principal/Head of the Institute.
- Tuition fee receipt
- Certificate issued by the government official not less than the rank of Tahsildar
- AADHAR seeded Bank Pass Book in the name of the student indicating Account number, IFSC code and photograph
- AADHAR Card
- Declaration by wards and widowed parent duly signed stating that the information provided about their child is correct and that they will refund the scholarship amount, if found false at any stage
