The scholarship at pre-matric level will motivate the parents from minority communities to send their children to school and lighten their financial burden about the school education and sustain their efforts to support their children to complete school education.
These kinds of schemes will shape the foundation for their educational attainment and provide a level playing field in the competitive employment arena. Empowerment through education is one of the major objectives of this scheme and has the potential to lead to upliftment of the socio economic conditions of the minority communities.
Backward class category students such as the Other Backward Classes and Economically backward classes have got an opportunity to apply for a Educational scholarship under the PM Young Achievers Scholarship Scheme for the energetic and sparkling students who are studying in Government/ Aided schools from class 1 to class 10 in Kerala state through OBIS; a centrally- initiated scheme implemented by the backward classes development department.
