Introduction
The ‘Pre-Metric Scholarship’ is awarded for all the students with disabilities in India irrespective of the categories. The scholarship covers the students studying in Class I to Class X in all the government schools that also include residential government institutes and eligible private institutes that are recognised by Central Government, State Government and Union Territory Administration.
Funding
The ‘Pre-Metric Scholarship’ is 100% funded by the Department of Empowerment of persons with disabilities, Government of India.
Availability
- Nearly about 50% scholarship seats are reserved for girls’ students which is transferable to male students in case of non-availability of female students
- About 30% of scholarship is integrated into the National Overseas Scholarship for eligible girl students.
Eligibility
The scholarship will be awarded to all students with disabilities with proper certificates who have secured not less than 40% marks as prescribed under the rules issued by competent authority.
Mode of Application
The scheme is implemented through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). It is mandatory for all students to apply online on the website i.e. www.scholarships.gov.in.
Documents Required
- The marksheet of 40% marks secured in the previous academic year’s final exam
- Annual family Income Certificate for the preceding financial year in the prescribed format issued by not below the rank of Tahsildar
- Disability Certificate issued by the practicing doctors/physicians
- Certificate issued by the Director/Principal/Head of the Institute.
- Tuition fee receipt.
- AADHAR seeded Bank Pass Book in the name of the student indicating Account number, IFSC code and photograph
- AADHAR Card
- Declaration by parents duly signed stating that the information provided about their child is correct and that they will refund the scholarship amount, if found false at any stage
